Lenovo 3000 V Series notebooks combine great performance with exceptional features. These sleek, widescreen (12.1″) models are designed for very mobile professionals who want worry-free56 computing in a stylish, media-friendly and powerful ultraportable. Lenovo’s world-class engineering delivers high quality, reliable notebook PCs – from many of the same award-winning developers of ThinkPad® notebooks.

Whenever you think of a 12.1-inch screen laptop you start thinking about low voltage processors, and sacrificing performance for the size. This isn’t necessarily the case with the V100. The V100 I have configured with a 2.0 GHz Core Duo processor is much faster than past generation 12.1″ screen notebooks. It’s slightly faster than its cousin ThinkPad X60s notebook that has a low voltage Core Duo processor. Factor in the 1.0GB of memory this V100 has and the decent 5400RPM hard drive and things move along very well. If you prefer to save money and go with a lower end processor, such as Core Solo, that option is available to you with the V100.

Within a three-month time span, Lenovo has launched three notebooks under its own brand: the Lenovo 3000 C100, the N100, and now the newest, the V100, the lightest of the three. With a 12-inch widescreen and an extended 56-Wh six-cell battery, the 4.4-pound V100 is a borderline ultraportable; and at just $1,649 direct, it’s one of the more affordable lightweights in this weight class.

The Lenovo V100 is a 12.1″ 4-lb class notebook with an integrated DVD burner. This form-factor is perfect for someone who doesn’t need to duplicate the features of a performance desktop, and instead values mobility and function. The nearest competitors would be the Sony SZ series, the Dell Inspiron 710m, the Dell XPS M1210, and the Apple MacBook.
