This small ultra-portable notebook PC from Averatec’s new 1100 series has a 10.6″ screen size and comes with an Intel Pentium M ULV 733 processor(1.1-GHz), 1GB RAM, 80GB Hard disk, the dual layer DVD allows you to archive or burn CDs and DVDs on the go.

The AV1150-EW1 also has integrated graphics, WXGA display with a 1280×768 resolution, two USB 2.0 ports, firewire port, Integrated Intel Pro/Wireless 2200GB, a 4-in-1 memory card reader and a VGA port. The notebook PC only measures 10.47″ x 7.97″ x 1.36″ and weighs 3.4 pounds.

The AV1150-EW1 manages to pack an Intel Pentium M ULV 733 processor (1.1-GHz), 1GB RAM, 80GB HDD, and a Dual-Layer DVD burner into a 3.4-pound package. External interfaces include two USB 2.0 ports, a 4-in-1 memory card reader, FireWire port, and VGA port.

The sound card generates the sound of your computer. Most laptops today do not have very advanced sound cards.

The graphics card renders the image displayed on the monitor. It essentially works together with the CPU and the internal memory to create graphics on the computer.

The AV1150-EW1 boasts the same sleek black and silver styling as other Averatec notebooks. Owing to its small but crisp 10.4-inch WXGA screen, it’s very compact, measuring 1.4 inches thick by 10.5 inches wide by 8 inches deep. Connections are generous and varied–they include a PC Card slot, two USB ports, and a four-in-one memory card reader. Other nice touches: a Wi-Fi switch on the front of the case, and a sturdy protective cover for the FireWire port and modem and network jacks, all grouped together on the left side.

Equipped with a 1.1-GHz Pentium M ULV 733 CPU and 1GB of RAM, the AV1150-EW1 earned a modest WorldBench 5 score of 60, on a par with similarly outfitted competitors. Like many ultraportables, this model is best suited for undemanding on-the-go work, like checking e-mail and doing word processing.
