  • Fujitsu LifeBook P7230 Review
By PCMAN on March 25th, 2007 | No Comments Comments

    34-110-234-02.jpg

With only a 10in screen, the tiny Fujitsu LifeBook P7230 ultra portable notebook provides some reasonable connectivity and despite its size, it even includes an optical drive. Like many ultra portable notebooks the long battery life was impressive, but its performance left a little to be desired.

To keep battery life up and heat emissions down Fujitsu has used the Intel U1400 single core 1.20GHz Ultra Low Voltage CPU, but might have benefited from using Intel’s slightly more powerful Dual Core Ultra Low Voltage CPU, the U2500.

Overall our experience using the P7230 with Windows Vista Business Edition was smooth, but some small performance hiccups during basic tasks suggest that it may struggle a little with more taxing applications. The P7230 encoded 53 minutes of WAV files to 192Kbps MP3 files in four minutes and 36 seconds, which is a fairly slow but not unexpected result. We tested the system with its out-of-the-box configuration using 1GB of 533MHz DDR2 RAM, but increasing the RAM to the maximum of 2GB will certainly help performance. Its other specifications include an 80GB hard disk and onboard graphics.

The Dell XPS 710 H2C Edition has an innovative, two-stage cooling solution that helps cool the processor even at its highest mode, and does so more effectively than Dell’s air-cooling solution. Ideal for gaming enthusiasts, the system is designed to help the XPS 710 H2C Edition stay cool in overclocked mode2—up to 9 degrees cooler even when you clock it at bin+2 speeds.

With the optional Intel® CoreTM 2 Extreme QX6700 quad-core processor, the XPS 710 H2CTM Edition offers a massive performance leap over previous generations of single-core processor-based desktops. The biggest improvements on the LE1600 are internal, thanks to the inclusion of the new Centrino components. The Pentium M 758 (1.5 GHz), 512MB DDR2 RAM, and Intel’s integrated graphics provide a significant speed boost from the M1400. Motion Computing emphasizes security in this tablet, with the inclusion of a built-in fingerprint reader and the TPM suite. The TPM hardware chip, a hardware solution for securing your personal information, is often seen in business-line notebooks. The module works in tandem with the fingerprint reader to safeguard your keys and passwords.
