Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000 is a wired, desktop webcam that delivers High Definition still (1.3 megapixels interpolated) photography, brilliant video (640×480 pixels) and a built-in unidirectional noise-canceling microphone for crystal-clear audio performance. The LifeCam fully integrates with the Microsoft Windows Live Messenger to deliver a suite of market-first features that make Web video calling a breeze. The Universal Attachment Base allows for easy and secure attachment to virtually any size monitor. Featuring a sleek black and gray design, the VX-3000 complements any office or home PC.

This camera produces High Definition photos, letting you capture high-quality, still photos at 1.3 megapixel resolution. The built-in microphone automatically picks up your voice with remarkable clarity. Just press the Windows Live Call Button and select an Online Contact to start a video call. Thanks to the universal attachment base, it’s a snap to attach the LifeCam VX-3000 to any monitor. The pan and tilt functionality make it easy to capture the big picture, however you want to see it.

    With a 640-by-480 resolution, the VX-3000 can shoot 1.3-megapixel still images; the VX-6000 has a much sharper 1,280-by-1,024 video and takes 5MP (interpolated) snapshots. Even though this lower resolution translates into video of lesser quality, it’s good enough for simple instant messaging and video chats. Otherwise, the two cameras offer the same easy setup, simple interface, built-in uni-directional microphone, and video rate of 30 frames per second. But the VX-3000’s lens only has a 55-degree viewing angle; the VX-6000 uses a 71-degree wide-angle lens.

    The VX-3000’s automatic face tracking software, which takes advantage of the camera’s pan, tilt, and zoom controls, follows you so you don’t disappear off-screen. Meanwhile, the camera automatically adjusts for low-light conditions for improved video quality, and a built-in unidirectional microphone with acoustic noise cancellation provides crystal-clear audio. Video effects give you a fun way to express yourself, and last but not least, the camera’s universal attachment base fits on most monitors, including flat screens. Alternatively, the camera can sit directly on your desk.
