image If you are like me, you may have never heard of iBurst. iBurst is a wireless mobile broadband specification that is used in commercial wireless WANs. The specification is defined by the IEEE 802.20 group for a low-cot, always-on mobile network with peak data rates of over 1 Mbits/s.

Kyocera is one of the main hardware providers for the specification and it has announced a new and updated USB modem for iBurst simply called the USB Wireless Broadband Modem for iBurst. The modem can be directly connected to a USB port on a host computer or can be connected via a cradle using a USB cable. The modem operates on a 5MHz bandwidth and provides up to 24Mbps download and up to 8Mbps upload per iBurst base station.
