Not backing up your data at home or at the office is a good way to lose important documents that you may not be able to recover. The easiest way to backup data at home and at the office is with external storage connected via USB. Other World Computing has a new external storage drive called the OWC Mercury Elite-AL Pro Dual-Drive.
The OWC offers up to 2TB of storage capacity with 2 SATA drives along with an 3-port integrated USB hub (2 on the back and 1 on the front). Despite the drive is offered in dual config, the Elite-AL doesn’t seem to support RAID1, just JBOD. The two 1TB drives enclosed are said to be Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 coupled with 32MB cache buffer. The Mercury Elite-AL is priced at $439.99, making it right at $100 less expensive than the Western Digital 2TB MyBook Pro. You however get a copy of Prosoft Engineering Data Backup for Mac and NovaStor NovaBACKUP for Windows. For a simpler setup, you can go with the cheap toaster looking JBOD SATA dock that accepts 2 drives of various size.
