The Elitebook 8530w is a series of 15.4" notebook computers from Hewlett Packard. Processors available are Intel Core 2 Duo dual-core chips, as well as Intel’s Core 2 Extreme and Core 2 Quad quad-core processors.  The standard display is 15.4" LCD with a resolution of 1680×1050 dpi.  An enhanced display is available with 1920×1200 dpi. The standard graphics adapter is an ATI Mobility FireGL V5700, featuring 256MB of dedicated memory, with an optional webcam.  The other graphics adapter  available for this line is  the NVIDIA Quadro FX 770M, featuring 512MB of dedicated memory.  Wi-Fi networking is included, using the 802.11b/g standard; A and N compatibility are available, using Intel’s Link 5300, and Bluetooth support is optional as well.  The optical drive is a LightScribe DVD+/-RW SuperMulti with Double Layer support, and a Blu-ray ROM DVD+/-RW SuperMulti DL Drive is available as well.  The operating system is Windows Vista Business (32 or 64-bit) and upgrades to Vista Ultimate (32-bit) are available. The option to downgrade from Vista to Windows XP is also available. The 8530w uses HP’s 3D DriveGuard, which lessens the impact of shock on the hard drive.  The notebook also uses HP’s ProtectTools Security Manager, a suite of security tools for airtight business-level protection.  The standard battery is a 8-cell LiOn.  The weight on the average configuration of the Elitebook 8530w series is 6.3 lbs.

The 8530w comes equipped with a 15.4" anti-glare widescreen with the highest resolution possible for a screen of this size.  At 1920 x 1200 pixels, this high-definition display is capable of displaying the finest details in workstation applications like Maya, CAD, 3dsMax, and more.  Or course, you can also enjoy this extra resolution for 1080p movies when you use the BluRay optical drive.

The next level up is the EliteBook 8530w, which looks very similar to the 8530p except this is a workstation, with workstation parts. You’ll find the same Centrino 2 processor and memory offerings, but the graphics card will be an ATI FireGL V5700 or an nVidia Quadro FX 770M, instead. The advantage of using these graphics chipsets is that they’re ISV certified, which assures customers that the applications a workstation has been certified for will run effectively on it. Aside from workstation graphics, the 8530w offers multiple battery options, including a 6-cell, 9-cell, and 12-cell option, as well as multiple wireless devices, including Centrino 2 Wi-Fi, EV-DO or HSDPA, and Bluetooth.
