Current subscribers who haven’t yet received version 2.5 can either wait for the automatic update or install the new version manually, but the previous version will have to be uninstalled first. Users are shown a red action item entitled: “Urgent, Contact Help Center - OneCare virus and spyware protection encountered a problem and cannot start”. This version Microsoft Windows Live OneCare will only work in Internet Explorer 6 or higher and once downloaded will not be compatible with popular anti-virus and firewall programs such as Symantec Norton Antivirus and McAfee Internet Security Suite. Indeed, Microsoft recommends that users uninstall all such programs as this may cause the computer to lock.
