The LifeBook N7010 has not one, but two LCD screens encased in a sleek glossy black housing. The primary screen is an impressive large, 16-inch wide-aspect Crystal View Display which delivers brighter images and richer colors, while a second 4-inch Touch Zone touch screen enhances productivity by keeping information, such as photo slide show, CD/DVD controls, or application shortcuts visible at all times for seamless multitasking.

Instead of minimizing applications, consumers can have two live applications running at the same time by dragging one into the Touch Zone. For example, they can work on a large file on the main screen and chat on the webcam below.

Fujitsu also announced the LifeBook P1630 feather-light and compact convertible tablet PC featuring the new Intel(R) Centrino(R) 2 Ultra Low Voltage processor technology, integrated wireless broadband and a webcam.

Features:

  • 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 processor
  • 256MB ATI Radeon HD 3470 graphics
  • 802.11a/g/n Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth
  • 16 inch wide screen
  • HDMI port
  • Blu-ray
  • eSATA port
  • a gesture-enabled touchpad
  • removable dust filter
  • spill-resistant keyboard.

The multimedia laptop comes with interesting facilities which are bringing real ease for the users. Having two displays- a 16.1-in and an Additional 4-inch touch screen displays, a gesture-enabled trackpad, an eSATA port for faster transfer, HDMI output for plugging into a HD TV and Blu-ray drive to play HD movies, all together is a good collection of functional features for multimedia uses.

The 15.2 x 10.9 x 1.9-inch desktop replacement is a bit on the heavy side at 7.4 pounds, but it’s not unreasonable for a system with a 16-inch screen. While it weighs 0.4 pounds less than the 16-inch Gateway MC Series, the Samsung R610-64G, by comparison, weighs only 6 pounds. Either way, while the system is light enough to tote from room to room, you’re probably not going to want to travel frequently with it.

Screen resolution is 1366 x 768 and there’s an HDMI output for plugging into your TV. RAM is 4GB, plus there’s an eSATA port, integrated 1.3-megapixel webcam, Bluetooth, WiFi a/g/n and a gesture-enabled trackpad. Storage is courtesy of a 320GB hard-drive.

The discrete ATI Radeon HD 3470 graphics with 256MB of dedicated memory was able to notch 5,249 on 3DMark03, which is pretty low these days for a desktop replacement (the average being 13,340), but on a par with the mainstream notebook average. Considering it has discrete graphics and an HDMI port, we’re glad to see that Fujitsu included a Blu-ray drive.

At 15 feet, the N7010’s Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5100 (802.11AGN) radio notched a transfer rate of 18.9 Mbps, on a par with the class average. The notebook also comes equipped with Bluetooth.

That touch sensitivity means that the secondary screen (which has a 960 x 544 resolution, apparently) can be used not only for displaying any windows or programmes as desired, but also as a control pad for the pre-installed launcher application. Sure it may sound a little gimmicky to have a small touch screen just to launch programs, but it’s definitely a cool one.
