The all-black N+ is perched atop a non-removable stand that requires it to be installed in a vertical position. Although this design is meant to appeal to users with limited desk space, it may pose a problem for those who prefer to stack their components. The device measures 7.5×5.2×1.2 inches and has two antennae mounted on the top that are non-removable but can be swiveled to achieve maximum reception. The front panel is loaded with activity indicators that glow blue when everything is plugged in and working correctly; a flashing amber light indicates a problem or disabled connection.

Without a fancy name, the Belkin N+ impressed us where it matters the most: range and throughput performance. As a bonus, it also offers a limited network-storage function. We were only disappointed that it doesn’t offer dual-band support, like the DIR-855 or the Linksys WRT610N. The N+’s performance, however, more than makes up for this, especially considering its street price of only about $100. If you plan to have a wireless network in a neighborhood that doesn’t already have too many wireless signals, we would recommend the Belkin N+ over any other wireless-N routers.

Using the latest, 802.11n Draft 2.0 technology, the N+ router offers outstanding range thanks to smart MIMO (multiple-input and multiple-output) technology. This router offers enough range to easily cover most homes or office spaces.
With data throughput of up to 300 Mbps, the N+ Router can handle media-intensive applications that take up large amounts of your bandwidth. The router will easily handle high-demand network activity such as streaming music and HD video, playing games online, downloading large files, and making Internet phone calls, all without hiccups or slowdowns.

The router is bulky but that isn’t a matter of concern as it would be sitting pretty on your desk. It has a curvy design and stands vertically on the desk. It also has two external antennas which pop out from the top. We personally don’t like routers having external antennas but if it leads to great range as is the case with ths router, we are cool about it. The height of the router is also higher than most routers. The back is occupied by the various ports and in the front are the illuminated LEDs displaying status of various ports, functions etc. The ports have been labeled clearly to help out novices identify the ports on the router.

The included features in the Belkin Wireless Pre-N router are just like any other wireless router. It includes a packet-scanning hardware firewall that blocks a wide range of attacks and lets you block access based on a computer’s hardware or MAC address. You can also choose protect the wireless LAN with either WEP or WPA, we recommend WPA. The router’s many advanced features, which are accessible via the unit’s browser-based configuration tool, include virtual server support, which is perfect if you plan to run Web or other Internet-services behind the router, a DMZ setting that you’ll need to play certain games on the Internet, and a remote management feature that lets you configure the router via the Internet.

The router is not cheap at $120, but it is worth every penny. This is the full step up from wireless g and even draft N. The router is easy to setup and use, and I have not had any of the seemingly random issues i saw with linksys. (that router seemed to have extreme difficulty assigning IP addresses and I ran into IP adress conflicts frequently) Moreover the performace is outstanding. I was turned into this router by the review at cnet. Check it out. The router can now be had for as little as $80 as well.

I would honestly go with the Netgear phone, but that’s just my opinion. Check out this article and maybe you could save yourself some stress. I really didn’t like the belkin phone.
